Mission

Head of Compliance, focusing on regulatory relations, norms, and professional ethics within a bank, is cru-cial for ensuring the institution complies with current regulations and upholds high ethical standards.


Main responsibilities

Below is an overview of the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with this position in a banking environment:

Regulatory Relations

Managing relationships with regulatory authorities: This involves maintaining open communication with local and international regulators (central banks, financial supervisory authorities, etc.).
Regulatory watch: Ensuring the bank stays updated on changes in banking laws and regulations (e.g., anti-money laundering laws, FATCA compliance, MiFID II, etc.).
Responding to regulatory audits and inquiries: Managing responses to requests for information from regulators or during investigations.
Implementation of legislative changes: Ensuring internal practices are adapted to comply with new regulatory requirements.

Compliance Norms

Developing internal policies: Creating and updating policies and procedures to ensure the bank adheres to both local and international standards.
Monitoring and controls: Supervising internal controls to identify and address any compliance gaps or issues.
Training and awareness: Organizing training programs to ensure that employees understand and comply with established compliance norms.

Professional Ethics

Establishing a code of conduct: Developing and enforcing a code of ethics to promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and ethical behavior within the bank.
Ethical guidance: Providing advice and support to employees on ethical and professional conduct issues, such as managing conflicts of interest or reporting unethical behavior.
Handling ethical violations: Implementing processes to report and address any ethical or professional misconduct.

  • Experience required: Regulatory expertise: In-depth knowledge of national and international regulatory frameworks that apply to the banking sector. Risk management skills: Understanding regulatory and ethical risks and how to mitigate them effectively.
  • Experience in private banking: Mandatory
