A professional alpinist, guide, and speaker featured at a major UBP conference.

Dani Arnold is happiest hanging off the edge of a cliff. He has been a mountaineer since a tender age, embracing the Alpine environment he grew up in and inspired by his ranger father. Speaking at our recent Quarterly Sales Meeting, he reminded the bankers in attendance of some valuable universal principles.

Alpinist and guide Dani Arnold is one of the select few that have climbed the six great north faces of the Alps – Matterhorn, Eiger, Grandes Jorasses, Cima Grande di Lavaredo, Petit Dru, and Piz Badile. Not to mention Broad Peak, at over 8000 metres. So he knows a thing or two about self-discipline, preparation, and endurance.

During his inspirational talk at UBP, he outlined some valuable wisdom he has gained from his experience. He stressed the importance of focus, even when it’s easy: it’s when you get complacent that you make mistakes, he says. He also recommends following your gut because your intuition is based on experience. Exchanging views and getting other opinions when making plans is important, he says, and on self-improvement he points out that if you’re critical with yourself and analyse your mistakes you’ll make fast progress.
